UNITY PIES- LOOK HOW FAR WE'VE COME

Updated: Sep 14, 2021

Sometimes it's important to step back and celebrate your achievements. Today is one of those days.

Picking up pace

In Feburary 2021, we started planning in earnest to launch our innovative new venture called Unity Pies.

Unity Works is a group of social enterprises supporting adults with a learning disability to access training and employment opportunities. Most adults with a learning disability would love to work; but only 6% do.

Unity Works supports 200 people a year, of whom an average of 40% gain qualifications or move into employment – proving that the national average of 6% is not an accurate reflection of people’s aspirations and potential.

Unity Pies was born to create not only amazing quality products but as a way to create more training and employment opportunities - a social enterprise.

Highlights so far:

Unity Pies has grown from an amazing idea to a fully fledged venture. Here are some of our key moments so far:

1. Products launched!

We couldn’t ask for a better launch partner than fellow social enterprise Ignition Brewery. You can find Unity Pies, handmade by our team of chefs with a learning disability, at their taproom in Sydenham.

2. Inclusive by design

Team Pie, made up of our trainees involved in the project, not only are making our pies but are also taking an active role in creating marketing content and co-developed the brand. Follow us on Instagram for the lastest!

3. Created a 3-year business plan

The venture is small but with big ambitions and there is so much going on behind the scenes to scale this idea. We want to create more training and employment opportunities for the adults supported by Unity Works.

4. We'll get by with a little help from our friends

This success is down the amazing Unity Works team, including Team Pie, as well as a fantastic community of people making recommendations, introductions. We are very grateful to all our friends who have helped us along the way!

Here's to the next 6 months and beyond.
